The Tulco Journals follow some adventures of a certain educated faction of the dwellers of the many worlds who have access to increasingly rare travel-crystals activated with musical melodies appropriate to specific worlds.
The Hermit from his studies has created a new world, the Mountain, on which he intends to develop an ecology of rare and endangered plant and animal species collected from other, dying worlds. To his surprise, when he first visits Mountain world he finds the young boy Tulco already there!
The Hermit takes Tulco on as his apprentice and gradually, having taught him the importance of how to read and construct books, brings him to the Open College on Bee-Tree, a busy world frequented by travelers. It is from here that Tulco's adventures really begin as he explores the Many Worlds, meets strange and wonderful characters, collects samples for the Hermits forest garden and learns more about his own peculiar relationship with the growing Mountain.
It is from this basis that the ecology, community and philosophy of Mountain World develop throughout the series. The novels explore aboriginal shamanism, community awareness and alternative lifestyles involving permaculture, the importance of ecological sustainability, at the forefront of exciting and epic adventure stories.

The Language of the StoneCarvers
This book accompanies the series and contains both reproductions of the original documents (Journals of Tulco, the Hermit, the Mentor, Drudelux, Mirrim, the Crone, the Witch) as well as the Translators notes and diagrams of stellae from the worlds of StoneMoss, SkyVine, Smeltor and the Mountain. It details phonetic shifts, conceptual development and analyzes the gradual progression of the language in its written and spoken forms and relationship between this and the different environments and ecologies to be found on each other worlds. This is largely for posterity because most of the StoneCarver colonies have been destroyed by man-made imbalances in ecological sustainability and by natural disaster.
Bestiary And Herbal
This book is an illustrated guide to the flora and fauna of the Mountain World after the Great Import Period and when its unique patchwork or rescued plants and animals has settled down into a stable ecology. It expands on the species mentioned in the original series, offering insight into the habits and nature of animal species as well as recipes and other uses for trees, shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables.
